An oily macerate, also called oleic extract, is an oil resulting from the maceration of a plant in a so-called “carrier” vegetable oil . The maceration process allows this oil to collect and preserve the active ingredients of the plants.

The oily macerate of St. John's wort has powerful properties. It is applied to burns , sunburns and other skin irritations . We also like it in recipes for muscle and joint oils and ointments (hello, stuck sciatic nerve).
